THE Whitsunday Reef Festival is only a couple of weeks away, and a great line-up has been announced for the Friday night event on August 4th. The event this year will be held on the Airlie Beach Foreshore – a fantastic place to party and will include a Carnival, Markets, Food Stalls, Pop-up Bar, an amazing display of fireworks (sponsored by Above Ground Zero Fireworks) which will light up the night sky, followed by a great line-up of hot Aussie acts performing n the Beach Music Stage – expect to mix with thousands of revellers dancing at the beach to some great beats.
Headlining the evening will be Townsville’s King Social kicking off their biggest tour yet with the Whitsunday Reef Festival promoting their new album ‘In Colour’. The genre-bending band – which has won fans for its high energy live gigs will kick off this tour on Friday night at the Reef Festival before heading off down the East Coast. King Social’s front man Angus Milne said the band was “Excited to hit the road again after almost 12 months break”. “We made a conscious decision to take time off from performing so that we could knuckle down and write the very best new music we could” said Milne. “We are sure people will agree the results speak for themselves”.
Hip hop artist Stevie Mitchell said fans “Could expect a blend of old favourites and new tracks”. “We are incredibly excited about the new stuff and stoked with the reaction we have had to the first single ‘Simmer Down. There are some real rippers on the album that we know the punters will love to dance to and we cant wait to party with everyone”. So it looks like Airlie Beach need to get their dancing shoes out for a big night.
Supporting King Social will be one of Airlie’s favourites – 8 Ball Aitken, local artist Kiki and local DJs, creating one great night of live entertainment.
8 Ball Aitken has flown the Australian flag on the international circuit for more than a decade performing more than 200 shows a year and is thrilled to be back in the place where his heart is. 8 Ball’s funky, foot stomping energy and infectious blend of swampy blues-rock have brought the party vibe to venues around the world and he has garnered numerous accolades, awards and rave reviews.
Don’t miss the street party of the year as locals and tourists come together at the ‘Beats on the Beach’ Party, located on Airlie’s foreshore, then onto Magnum’s for the after party.
The Friday night party will be followed on Saturday with a massive program of daytime events, including the sand sculpting competition, the amazing Rotary Street Parade, Wearable Arts Awards, Revvin the Reef Vintage Car Show and Miss Pin-up Competition and the Mantra Magic Mile Run. You might even see some latin dancing at the beach. Just one of 4 days of fantastic fun at the Whitsunday Reef Festival.
