Wearable Art is hard to define – and ‘art that walks’ says it in just three words. Wearable art garments can be made from literally anything – and the possibilities are only limited by the wearable artists’ imagination.
Wearable art was screened Australia wide recently in the popular series Project Runway Australia, when entrants delighted viewers with their creative interpretations of garments made from hardware store items……and from vegetables.
Whitsunday students have excelled in local, state, national and international Wearable Art events – since wearable art featured in the first Whitsunday Student Festival of Fashion. Playing cards, tourist brochures, newspapers, plastic bags, leaves, branches, wire netting and an endless list of new and recycled items have been combined with fabric, paint, wire and glue to create masterpieces of wearable art.
Now there is an invitation to all those creative students and adults out there who love the fun of Wearable Art. There is another event soon where you can show your creative genius - The 2010 Rotary Wearable Art Awards.
Why not have some fun by yourself or with a friend and come up with an amazing outfit? Be part of the colourful Reef Festival . There will be great cash prizes generously sponsored by the Rotary Club of Airlie Beach as a youth initiative and it will be a really exciting day.
Entry forms are available now by contacting the organizer on 49461271 or by emailing pampole@hotmail.com.au
